UPCYCLED BLOOMS
As a member of the Elizabeth Gardens Creative Collective, I participated in the 2nd annual community Art Walk on August 27 2022. This project was inspired by my love of gardening and plants as well as by my experience as an artist/mother leading creative activities with my child. Playing, exploring and inventing with whatever materials we had on hand - to see what new, beautiful things we could create.
My an art station activity was called ‘UPCYCLED BLOOMS’, where we made flowers out of stuff that was going to be discarded or thrown away. It was open to all ages and didn’t doesn’t require any special tools or skills.
There is no right or wrong way to do it. No good or bad. All it requires is for you to think about flowers and then make a thing that has flower-like qualities. Perfection is not the goal. The importance is the joy you experience in the making.
